Where are clone golf clubs assembled?
(Excerpts from an interview with Pinemeadow Golf)
Previous: Where are clone golf clubs made?
Guy Mount III: We assemble in the USA, as do all the other makers. We all assemble and distribute here in the USA, generally speaking.
Bryan O'Doherty: And the reason that makes sense for us is, for example, we're custom building to order; custom fitting the customer. And the same raw materials can satisfy a broad variety of models or fitting solutions. So you may have different grips, but on the same shaft. And that would be the case for all clubmakers who are doing custom fitting.
Guy Mount III: You may take a driver that needs a specific graphite shaft, but your 3 and 5 wood you want with a steel shaft - we've got to be able to have the flexibility to do that. It's very hard to have those made and shipped from anywhere and have any sort of way to make it work for the customer.
Bryan O'Doherty: One thing we haven't done as yet, but we may in the future, is have some clubs assembled offshore. Most of the major manufacturers do that to some degree or a large degree. Most of the right-hand regulars, right-hand stiffs, for example, for a Nike would be completely made in China and then they're imported in.
