How many clone clubs do you sell?
(Excerpts from an interview with Pinemeadow Golf)
Previous: What are your most popular clubs?
Guy Mount III: It's fair to say that we've sold millions of golf clubs in the years. We are probably the largest producer of legal clone clubs in the US and have been for a number of years.
We're very confident that the Pinemeadow brand and the Pinemeadow name - as a result of being here for 20 years and truly selling millons of clubs into the marketplace - is pretty remarkable.
Bryan O'Doherty: Let me give you an additional idea of the scope of what we're doing. In 2003, although we were doing very well in all 50 states, in addition, almost 30% of our sales were international. And we find that pretty extraordinary considering that today our site is only in English.
Countries where we've been particularly well received are Spain, England, Ireland, all the Scandinavian countries...we think the Euro's been very good to US manufacturers.
The only hump to get over is shipping cost. But we've negotiated large discounts in our international shipping. I think one of the reasons our international sales have been so good is that it's not uncommon for someone in London to order a set of clubs from us on a Monday and have them delivered at their flat on Friday.
We have 2-day shipping anywhere in the world and that's really made the world a lot smaller for us. It's been a great thing.
Guy Mount III: It's also been great because if someone has a great experience like that - gets their clubs - they're going to go to the golf course.
And their buddies at the golf course are going to hear that story and say, 'wow,' and then they're going to play those clubs and they're going to test them out and they're going to go, 'I think we want to get some of those also'. So I think the word of mouth, through people having great experiences, and the shipping makes a big difference from what it was 5 years ago.
