The change of guard continues at Pinemeadow Golf as the popular Excel irons make way for the successor model: the Excel Strong. The irons share their name with a new driver and fairway wood.
An early peek suggests the irons are all-rounders. Neither a classic blade or a chunky beginner’s club, the modern design aims at a true flight, helping you get the ball up and out at the right trajectory in the right direction.
The look of the club is a touch different to the traditional, with darker coloring, a stubby hosel and a notched rear.
The standard 3-PW set costs around $149 with an Apollo steel shaft. Graphite shafts add another $60 to the price and there are a range of shaft and grip choices for those with personal preferences. Another $19 or so gets you a sand wedge. For more price info, check the Pinemeadow website.
This is your basic worker iron choice. Good value for money, but those looking for some ultra-modern flair might prefer the Excel Hollow Core titanium irons.
